When we first realized we could actually take this trip we were ECSTATIC! It’s the only thing we could think about and all we wanted to talk about. We had 9 months to plan and a literal world of possibilities. As the trip grew closer I got kind of lost in the minutia of getting done all that had to get done. Not that I wasn’t excited, because I really was, but I was so buried in getting everything planned, getting everyone vaccinated, dealing with health insurance while we’re gone, finding renters for our house, and moving I didn’t always have time or space in my brain to be excited all the time anymore. Now that we’re officially retired (as we refer to it) and out of our house and about to board the plane we’re getting really excited again.
We are half way done raising our kids (theoretically) and we can’t wait for an intermission. We have a truly blessed life…amazing friends and family, fantastic school, great jobs, etc. I just want a break from the constant hustle and bustle of life. I want to press the pause button and get to live on our own time schedule with only the four of us to worry about. Eat when we’re hungry, go where we want to go without the craziness of regular life constantly begging for our attention. And getting to see the world while we’re at it is pretty cool too!
