Iceland…what a beautiful and inspiring country to start the adventure of a lifetime. Each day brought a new sense of wonder about this mysterious land. From the lava caves and freezing glaciers, to the powerful waterfalls and black sandy beaches. But it wasn’t just the sights that made this place so inspiring for me. The people of Iceland were so genuine and dedicated to their country. The way they spoke of their heritage and how proud they are to be from Iceland. To the large crowds gathering downtown, faces painted like the Icelandic flag, cheering in unity at the top of their lungs during their biggest soccer match in history against England. This was definitely the perfect country to get me warmed up and excited about traveling the world.
But something even more life changing hit me. While I was lying in our tiny little studio, nowhere to hide from the screaming kids and Tamara trying to keep us on track…I realized I was truly blessed! I have been given an opportunity to spend every day, all day, for the next year with the 3 people I love more than anything in this world. In the rat race at home, I forgot about all the little things, and big, that made my peps so special to me. All 4 of us crammed in one bed in the morning just hanging out, watching their faces light up as they see something for the first time, Tamara and I enjoying doing nothing together with no have-to’s, and even just watching them sleep. I am so lucky and can’t wait to see what God has instore for us!
